Hi, I'm 👋
Sanskrati Gupta

That’s where I like to spend my time: exploring problems, building solutions, experimenting with products, and learning from everything that happens in between.

About

The short version of me

B.Tech CSE (E-Commerce Technology) at VIT Bhopal, 2024 to 2028.

How I got into techCollege. I started poking at code and web development just to see how things worked, then began building my own projects. Somewhere along the way it stopped being coursework and became something I actually enjoy.
What gives me energyBuilding things, untangling problems, and working with people. I like the stretch from "just an idea" to "it's real", whether that's a website or an event.
Something people don't expectI love the behind-the-scenes side of events. Planning, managing and sweating over the little details is weirdly fun for me.

Leading 25 to 30 people at once

I lead the Event Management team. Our events pull in 250 to 300 people, and my job is to make all of it look easy.

How an event actually runs

It starts messy

Every event begins as a rough idea and a long list of unknowns. Before anything moves, I get the goal, the date and the must-haves written down so the team is reacting to a plan and not to my mood.

Right work, right person

With 25 to 30 people, handing out tasks is the job. I split the work by strengths and interest, make it clear who owns what, and keep it small enough that nobody is quietly stuck.

Keep everyone on the same page

Weekly meetings are the backbone. Between them there are calls, face-to-face catch-ups and a lot of follow-ups. Most event problems are really communication problems that showed up late.

Where the chaos peaks

With 250 to 300 people in the room, I manage the behind-the-scenes flow: who is where, what is next, what just broke. The audience should only see the part that works.

It isn't over when it ends

We talk through what worked and what didn't, and credit the people who carried it. Seeing the response from participants is honestly the best part of the whole thing.

Hardest part
of leading

Bringing everyone along. People work at different speeds and in different ways, so "just do it" never works. I had to learn to explain things differently for different people, and to adjust the plan instead of expecting it to survive contact with reality.

Project

VITPEERS, built solo

VITPEERS is a networking platform for VIT students. You find seniors, friends, teammates and mentors by campus, branch and year, then connect, message, and even schedule a video call, all in one place. I designed it, built it and deployed it on my own.

The problem

Finding the right people on campus is hard when you only know your own circle. VITPEERS lets students discover peers by campus, branch, year, skills and interests.

Everything, end to end

I handled product, UI/UX, frontend, backend, JWT auth with college-email verification (Brevo), profiles, connection requests, messaging, notifications and scheduled video calls. There's also a theming system with four visual styles. React and Vite on Vercel, Node, Express and MongoDB Atlas on Render.

Where it got painful

Joining the pieces without breaking what already worked. Frontend state, API integration and auth all fought me at some point, and trying different UI systems meant keeping every screen consistent on every screen size.

What stuck

Building a full-stack app is very different from building screens. I got comfortable connecting React to real APIs, handling sessions, structuring reusable components and debugging across the frontend and backend.

What's next

A more polished visual system, better interactions, stronger responsive design, faster loading, and more features for student collaboration.

How it works for a student
  1. Sign upWith a college email, verified through Brevo.
  2. Make a profileCampus, branch, year, skills and interests.
  3. DiscoverFind seniors, friends, teammates and mentors.
  4. ConnectSend a request and get talking once it's accepted.
  5. Chat or callMessage them or schedule a video call.

Discovery that makes sense

Filter people by campus, branch and year, so you find the right person, not just the loudest profile.

Connections and messaging

Connection requests, direct messages and notifications, so a conversation can actually start and continue.

Four themes

I built a theming system with 4 distinct visual experiences, each fully responsive.

Made for 4 campuses

Vellore, Chennai, Amaravati and Bhopal, so students across VIT can meet.

What I bring

A bit of tech, a lot of people

The useful part is that I've done each of these for real, not just listed them.

01

Full-stack development

React on the front, Node, Express and MongoDB behind it, deployed and live.

Used in: VITPEERS
02

Problem solving

Break it down, find the actual cause, fix that. Practising DSA on LeetCode keeps this sharp.

Used in: LeetCode, debugging sessions
03

Event planning and execution

From first idea to the last chair being stacked, I handle the whole stretch.

Used in: events of 250 to 300 people
04

Team leadership

Setting direction for a big team without losing the people in it.

Used in: Startup Club, 25 to 30 members
05

Communication

Saying the same thing differently for different people until it lands.

Used in: weekly meetings, calls, follow-ups
06

Project coordination

Juggling tasks, people and timelines so things arrive when they should.

Used in: every event cycle
Beyond the screen

Life outside the editor

Code is fun, but I'd be a worse builder if it were the only thing I did.

01

Travelling

New places and new experiences are my favourite way to reset my head and come back with fresh ideas.

02

Dancing

My break from everything else. When things get heavy, music on and the rest can wait.

03

Badminton

One of my favourite ways to stay active and have fun, and yes, I take the rallies seriously.

उद्यमेन हि सिद्ध्यन्ति कार्याणि न मनोरथैः।

Success is achieved through effort, not merely through wishes. Wanting is only the beginning.
